わが心、牛の心と耕しぬ。
my heart
yoked to the bull's heart
together we have plowed

To plow the rice fields, and other fields which are neglected
during the winter, is important farm work.
Originally done with spades and hoes, it revives
the fields by aerating the soil.
The word for this is tagaeshi = tagayashi (to turn over the field)
The bull that is pulling the plow and a farmer who drives it,
both hearts are yoked together to plow the ridges one by one.
